Yodel or Yodeling (Jodeling in German): to sing by suddenly changing from a natural voice to a falsetto and back; also : to shout or call in a similar manner.
Yodeling is an old form of communication with celtic roots. It originated in the European Alps, in particular, in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. But different forms of yodeling can be also found in Central Europe, the Balkans, Scandinavia, and Italy, India, Hawaii, the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and Latin America.
It has been used as a form of entertainment but also as way to communicate over long distances like between mountain tops and valleys.
Web Yodel is combining yodeling, the well-proven way of communicating over long distances and entertainment, with the modern technology of the World Wide Web.
Web Yodel’s founder, Margit “Mia” Mestdagh, grew up the Schoenau am Koenigssee in the Berchtesgaden Land.
Berchtesgaden is one of the most beautiful places in Germany. In Berchtesgaden, yodeling is still a major part of the local culture.
